Union Minister Anurag Thakur has targeted the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Madhya Pradesh, saying those who give slogans to eradicate corruption end up supporting corrupt governments. Thakur, who is also the BJP MP from Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh, made the remarks while addressing party workers in Madhya Pradesh ahead of the state assembly elections in 2023.
Thakur said the AAP, which had come to power in Delhi with the promise of eradicating corruption, was now supporting the Congress government in Punjab, which was “infamous for corruption.” He added that the AAP had also supported the Congress in Rajasthan, where the party was also facing corruption charges. Thakur said the people of Madhya Pradesh should be careful while voting in the assembly elections and should not be misled by the “false promises” of the opposition parties. He added that the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh had worked tirelessly to bring development to the state. The BJP has been in power in Madhya Pradesh since 2003. The state is set to go to the polls in 2023.
Anurag Thakur attended a program organized under Meri Mati Mera Desh at Rani Durgavati University and interacted with journalists. During the discussion, he made a statement regarding Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party. Thakur alleged that before the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party, Kejriwal used to protest against the corruption of the Congress party and give the slogan of India against corruption. However, Thakur claimed that once Kejriwal became the Chief Minister of Delhi, he also got involved in corruption. Thakur stated that the chair of the Chief Minister seems to be such that anyone who sits in it becomes corrupt.
