Navratri: Goddess Durga’s Triumph Over Demon Mahishasura
Navratri is a time to celebrate the divine power of the Mother Goddess in all her forms and names.
Long, long ago, there was a powerful demon named Mahishasura who wreaked havoc on the world. He was unbeatable and the gods were at a loss as to how to defeat him. That’s when Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh came together and invoked the supreme power of Adi Shakti.
Finally, Adi Shakti appeared as the magnificent and fierce Goddess Durga, ready to take on Mahishasura. For nine days, they engaged in a fierce and epic battle, with neither of them backing down. But on the tenth day, Mother Durga finally triumphed over the evil demon and put an end to his reign of terror. This victory of good over evil is commemorated every year during the festival of Navratri.
During this time, we celebrate the power and strength of the Divine Mother. We fast, offer prayers, and meditate on the supreme qualities of the Goddess, all of which enable us to manifest our inner strength and wisdom.
The festival of Navratri is a time to celebrate the divine power of the Mother Goddess in all her forms and names. The nine days of this joyful occasion culminate in Ram Navmi, which marks the birth of Lord Ram.
